Jharkhand: High Court formed a committee to investigate illegal mining

A division bench of Jharkhand High Court Chief Justice Sanjay Kumar Mishra and Anand Sen on Tuesday directed the constitution of a three-member committee to investigate the matter related to illegal mining in Palamu, Garhwa and Latehar.
Ranchi. Taking serious note of the cases of illegal mining in Palamu, Garhwa and Latehar, the Jharkhand High Court has directed the state government to constitute a three-member committee headed by an Inspector General of Police level officer to investigate it. A division bench of Jharkhand High Court Chief Justice Sanjay Kumar Mishra and Anand Sen on Tuesday directed the constitution of a three-member committee to investigate the matter related to illegal mining in Palamu, Garhwa and Latehar. The bench authorized the home secretary of the state to select this committee.
The committee will comprise an Inspector General of Police (IG rank) level officer and two expert officers from the Mines and Geology Department. The court has directed the Deputy Commissioners of Garhwa, Palamu and Latehar to cooperate with the said inquiry committee in the investigation. As per the order of the High Court, this committee will investigate the illegal mining in the three districts and submit the report to the court within four weeks.
