Pointing to the arrest of several Trinamool Congress leaders and a minister in connection with the alleged scam in the recruitment of academic and non-academic posts, Pradhan said the central agencies unearthed the entire scam and took the responsibility of bringing to justice.

Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan on Saturday hit out at the ruling Trinamool Congress in West Bengal, alleging that ‘education’ has turned into ‘illiteracy’ in the state because of the malpractices of its leaders and ministers. He alleged that under the poor governance of the Trinamool Congress-led government in West Bengal, “only tolabaji and cut money” is going on in the education sector. Pointing to the arrest of several Trinamool Congress leaders and a minister in connection with the alleged scam in the recruitment of academic and non-academic posts, Pradhan said the central agencies unearthed the entire scam and took the responsibility of bringing to justice.

The Union minister was referring to the arrest of former state minister Partha Chatterjee and several officials of the Recruitment Committee and Board of Education on charges of an alleged scam in the recruitment of academic and non-academic posts in state government-sponsored and aided schools, which is being probed by the Central Bureau of Investigation. (CBI) and Enforcement Directorate (ED). Speaking to reporters on the sidelines of a religious function here, Pradhan said, “Many more big names will come under the ambit of the CBI in the coming days as there is progress in the investigation by central agencies… Now middlemen are being caught in the job recruitment scam… .Wait for the big names to come by the central agencies. It will happen in due time.

Pradhan had lunch at the party worker’s residence in Kolkata. Continuing his attack on Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee-led Trinamool, he alleged, “The biggest crime of Trinamool Congress is recruitment ‘scam’, mid-day meal ‘scam’ and collecting money from ‘tolabaazi’.” It is sad to comment on the condition of Bengal where the land was once known for Goddess Saraswati.

On Pradhan’s statement, Trinamool Congress spokesperson Kunal Ghosh said that Pradhan should ‘clarify the situation regarding the raids by the Enforcement Directorate at several places in Uttar Pradesh regarding irregularities in the education sector. Ghosh said, “If there are some irregularities in the Trinamool Congress government, the party wants the truth to come out. Government is taking action against the culprits. We are cooperating with the investigating agencies, but what is Pradhan’s party (BJP) doing in the states where he has the government. Known to the world,” So why is Dharmendra Pradhan finding it difficult to accept it.
