Harvey Weinstein gets 23 years in prison, accused of assault by more than 80 people

Hollywood producer Harvey Weinstein has been sentenced to 23 years in prison for assault and rape. A New York court found Harvey guilty of rape and sexual assault, and there was ample evidence and witnesses against him in court. The judge announced the verdict after hearing both parties.

Harvey Weinstein was accused of sexual abuse by more than 80 women. A 2017 New York Times report revealed that several women complained about sexual harassment and rape against Harvey.

Following this revelation, The Times and The New Yorker were awarded the Pulitzer Prize for their coverage of Harvey. This is where the #MeToo movement in Hollywood started.

After this, there was also a wave of #MeToo in Bollywood. However, Harvey said in his clarification that when he offered sex or any such demand on behalf of a woman, no one refused him. Everyone accepted his offer.
