The opposition to the bridge being built on the Indravati river in Gadchiroli has intensified. The people of the tribal community living near the Maharashtra-Chhattisgarh border have opposed this bridge, terming it as loot of water, forest and land. Tribal communities living in Chhattisgarh and Maharashtra have been protesting near the state border for the last 14 days. These tribals are standing on this. Lalsu Nagoti, a tribal leader told media news agency ANI that people from around 20-25 villages of Chhattisgarh and Maharashtra are present here. Even after 75 years of independence, we have not got even basic facilities. Looting of water, forests and land is being encouraged through these types of bridges.

In the pictures tweeted by the news agency ANI, it is seen that many people are present in this border area. These people have banners in their hands. It is written on this banner that stop attacking the village without the permission of the Gram Sabha. Stop entering the village. Looking at the pictures, it seems that these tribals are in the mood to continue their fight here. Some women are also seen cooking food on the stove there.

According to the agency, the Assistant Collector of Ittapalli has said in the conversation that as far as I know this bridge is being constructed in the area of Chhattisgarh. I don’t think it is right to stop this construction work. We will talk to the people and tell them why this bridge is necessary.

It is being told that the construction work of this bridge is to be done on the Indravati river adjacent to Kawande village of Bhamragarh tehsil located on the border of Maharashtra and Chhattisgarh states. It will be an interstate bridge. Bijapur district of Chhattisgarh state falls near Indravati river adjacent to Kawande village. This campus is also adjacent to Abujhmad forest and it is also considered sensitive in terms of Naxalite activities. People protesting say that the construction of the bridge will destroy the mineral wealth. Here the tribals have been continuously opposing the construction of the bridge since last January 4.
