New Delhi. Suryakumar Yadav, who has the ability to shoot into every corner of the field, has become the top run scorer for India in T20 Internationals in a calendar year. Suryakumar, who has long since become India’s top T20 International batsman, has 732 runs to his name in a calendar year. In this case, he overtook opener Shikhar Dhawan, who scored 689 points in 2018.

The batsman, who played one of the best innings of his career in the opening T20 International against South Africa in Thiruvananthapuram, is just 24 runs away from the 1000 run in the shorter form of the game. His strike rate this year was 180.29, while his career strike rate in 32 games was 173.35. He hit 57 sixes and 88 fours in this format. Against South Africa on Wednesday, when he came to the fold, the Indian team ran into trouble after scoring 17 for two in the power play.

He took the pressure off the team by hitting two sixes in the first three balls of his innings and scored an unbeaten 50 in an aggressive 33-ball innings to help India win. With two sixes at the start of the innings, Suryakumar surpassed Pakistani Mohammad Rizwan to hold the record for most sixes in a T20 International in a calendar year. Rizwan had made a record 42 sixes in 2021. Martin Guptill also hit 41 sixes in the same year. Suryakumar now has 45 sixes to his name and India is yet to play many more T20 matches this year. He is second in the list of batsmen in the International Cricket Council’s T20 International ranking.
