New Delhi: Shooter Abhinav Bindra was the only player from India to win a gold medal at the Olympics in an individual game for the first time. Today ie 28 September is Abhinav Bindra’s birthday. He was born on this day in the year 1982 in Dehradun. This year he celebrates his 40th birthday.
Shooting practice started from school
Abhinav Bindra was educated at The Doon School for two years before moving to Chandigarh. He started taking an interest in photography while he was studying at school. When his parents saw his passion for shooting, they built a shooting range at home so that he could more easily practice. Since childhood, he began to try his hand at shooting, which later turned out to be very beneficial to him.

Abhinav Bindra took part in the 1998 Commonwealth Games at the age of 15. At that time, he became the youngest competitor. Though the age was short, the spirit was great. His greatest success came when he won the bronze medal at the 2001 World Championships in Munich with a new world record for juniors of 597/600. He was also honored with the Rajiv Gandhi Khel Ratna Award in the same year.
