Minister of State for Electronics and IT, Rajeev Chandrasekhar told the Lok Sabha in a written reply that the Indian Railway Catering and Tourism Corporation (IRCTC) launched the RailYatri app following a tip from the Indian Computer Emergency Response Team (CERT-In) in December last year. action was taken against He said, “As per the information provided by IRCTC, ticket booking facility on RailYatri app was stopped after CERT-In reported the data leak in December last year and its custodian firm The fine was imposed. The app was restored after taking necessary security measures.”

Chandrasekhar said that in the last three years, there have been 10, 5 and 7 data leak cases involving government organizations respectively. “As per the information tracked by CERT-In, there have been a total of 47 cases of data leaks and 142 cases of data breaches in the last five calendar years,” he added. Last year, CERT-In had issued a directive to report such cases to CERT-In within six hours of detection under the law.

IRCTC may soon start the feature of voice-based e-ticketing. With this, tickets can be booked by speaking. It is conducting trials of its Artificial Intelligence (AI) platform ‘Ask DISHA’. With this, customers will be able to book tickets by giving voice commands. Along with this, IRCTC has also planned to increase the online ticketing capacity per day. Ask DISHA has been developed in association with Bengaluru-based startup CoRover. Through this platform, customers can book tickets and take other assistance with an OTP verification login. In this, users do not need IRCTC login and password. Through chatbot Ask Disha 2.0, passengers will be able to book tickets using text or voice commands. On this, the status of cancellation of tickets and refund of canceled tickets will also be known.
