It is noteworthy that Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) terrorists attacked the five-storey office of the police chief in Karachi on Friday at 7.10 pm local time.
Banned TTP spokesman Mohammad Khursani issued a statement claiming responsibility for the attack. In the encounter that lasted for hours, three TTP terrorists were killed and four others, including three security personnel, lost their lives. According to the police, terrorists Zala Noor and Kifayatullah have been identified as residents of Lakki Marwat district of North Waziristan. He said the two terrorists had conducted a recce of the area about a month before the attack and they wanted to target the Additional Inspector General of Police. Police raided the residence of alleged terrorist Kifayatullah at Wanda Ameer village in Lakki Marwat and questioned the family members.
Kifayatullah (aged around 20 years) had left home about five months ago and the family was not aware of him. Family members said that Kifayatullah’s presence in Pakistan came to light after the Karachi blasts, while they were expecting him to be in Afghanistan. Police sources said that Kifayatullah was trained in militancy and used to travel regularly to Afghanistan. They said Kifayat fought on behalf of the Taliban in Afghanistan and was associated with the Tipu faction of the TTP.
