Yamuna’s water level recorded on Wednesday was the highest since August 2019. However, it is likely to fall below the hazard level of 205.33 during the day. The Delhi government issued a flood warning on Tuesday, halting train traffic on the old Yamuna Bridge and evacuating about 6,500 people from low-lying areas along the Yamuna as the water level in the river reached 206 meters after heavy rains. The upper watersheds, especially Uttarakhand and Himachal Pradesh, have had rain last week. There has been no significant rainfall in the upper watersheds in the past three days and the water flow rate from the Hathnikund Barrage in Haryana also dropped from 96,000 cusecs at 7:00 am on Tuesday to 25,400 cusecs at 9:00 am on Wednesday and 17,800 cusecs at 9:00 am. am on Thursday.
