Gairsain. Uttarakhand Finance Minister Prem Chand Agarwal presented a budget of Rs 77,407.08 crore for the financial year 2023-24 in the state assembly on Wednesday. This is 18.05 percent more than the budget for the current financial year. A provision of Rs 10,459 crore has been made in the budget for education, Rs 1,000 crore for Joshimath landslide relief works and Rs 500 crore for the 300 MW Lakhwad project. Presenting his second budget during the ongoing session in the summer capital of the state, Agarwal also made a provision of Rs 100 crore for three G-20 meetings to be held in Uttarakhand this year.

In the budget, a revenue receipt of Rs 57,057 crore has been estimated in the next financial year. While the revenue receipt in the current financial year is likely to be Rs 51,474 crore. The total expenditure in the budget is estimated at Rs 77,407.08 crore, which is 18.05 per cent higher than last time. This time a revenue surplus budget has been presented in the state which is Rs 4,309 crore. The fiscal deficit in the budget has been estimated at Rs 9,046 crore. In the budget, revenue from sources other than taxes is estimated at Rs 25,654 crore, while a capital expenditure provision of Rs 13,133 crore has been made. Describing the education sector as the priority of the state government, the Finance Minister said that a provision of Rs 10,459.55 crore has been made in the budget for this.

IThis includes a provision of Rs 51 crore for the excellent cluster school. To promote the tourism industry, a provision of Rs 302.04 crore has been made in the budget, in which 15 crore has been kept for the development of Tehri Lake, 60 crore for tourism infrastructure and 10 crore for the amenities of the upcoming Chardham Yatra. . In the budget, a provision of Rs 461.31 crore has been made for the Industries Department, in which Rs 100 crore has been given for workforce development. A provision of 4,217.87 crore has been made for the Health Department. A provision of Rs 1,251.33 crore has been made for the Energy Department, in which Rs 500 crore has been kept for the 300 MW multipurpose Lakhwad project.

While keeping in view the increasing drinking water demand of Dehradun, Rs 110 crore has been allocated for the dam construction scheme on Saung river. A provision of Rs 1,000 crore has been made for relief works in Joshimath and other places for landslides or other similar problems. A provision of Rs 100 crore has been made for the meetings of the G-20 conference while Rs 1,300 crore has been given for the infrastructure work of various departments of the state. A provision of Rs 215 crore has been made in the budget for payment of residual sugarcane price to the farmers. Apart from this, Rs 1,294.15 crore has been allocated for the Agriculture Department. Agarwal started his budget speech of about an hour with Garhwali.
