Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Thursday greeted the countrymen on the occasion of 74th Republic Day and wished that the countrymen move forward unitedly to make the dreams of the great freedom fighters come true. India is celebrating 74th Republic Day today. Republic Day celebrations are being organized at Kartavya Path in New Delhi under the leadership of President Draupadi Murmu. In a tweet, the Prime Minister said, “Many best wishes for the Republic Day. This time this occasion is also special because we are celebrating it during the Amrit Mahotsav of Independence.

May we move forward unitedly to make the dreams of the country’s great freedom fighters come true.” Egyptian President Abdul Fatah El Sisi is the chief guest at this year’s Republic Day celebrations. The Republic Day Parade will showcase the nation’s military prowess, cultural diversity, self-reliance, women empowerment and the rise of a new India. India got independence from the British on 15 August 1947 but on 26 January 1950 India was declared a sovereign democratic republic. The constitution of the country came into force on this day.
