Out of 19 urban bodies of the state, BJP has secured majority in 11 and Congress in eight. Elections were held in a total of 343 wards of 19 urban bodies including Raghogarh Municipal Council, the home constituency of senior Congress leader and Rajya Sabha MP Digvijay Singh.

Bhopal. The results of elections to 19 urban bodies in Madhya Pradesh were announced on Monday, in which the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) candidates won 183 councilor posts, while the Congress emerged victorious in 143 wards. Out of 19 urban bodies of the state, BJP has secured majority in 11 and Congress in eight. Elections were held in a total of 343 wards of 19 urban bodies including Raghogarh Municipal Council, the home constituency of senior Congress leader and Rajya Sabha MP Digvijay Singh.

According to State Election Commission secretary Rakesh Singh, out of 343 councilor posts under 19 urban bodies in five districts, the BJP won 183 while the Congress won 143. He said that Congress won 16 wards and BJP won eight wards in Raghogarh Municipal Council. Out of 19 urban bodies of the state, BJP has secured majority in 11 and Congress in eight. Voting for these urban bodies was held on Friday.
