Kavita said that she has sent the necessary documents sought by the probe agency through her legal representative. He also claimed that he had “reasons to believe and a serious apprehension that the sanctity of law may not be upheld in the enquiry/investigation being conducted”.
BRS leader K Kavita on Thursday skipped the summons summoned by the Enforcement Directorate for the second round of questioning in the money laundering case related to the Delhi Liquor Policy matter. In his representation to the ED by his legal team, he said that the matter of his questioning by the federal probe agency is now before the Supreme Court and “its outcome should be awaited before proceeding further with the matter”.
Kavita said that she has sent the necessary documents sought by the probe agency through her legal representative. He also claimed that he had “reasons to believe and a serious apprehension that the inquiry/investigation being conducted may not uphold the sanctity of the law and that my expectation of an independent, fair, or impartial investigation or inquiry would be severely compromised.” On March 11, the BRS leader appeared before the ED at the agency’s Delhi headquarters and walked away after a marathon nine-hour interrogation in the money laundering case. The ED has issued fresh summons to K Kavita on March 20.
Earlier on Wednesday recorded the statement of Buchi Babu, former auditor of BRS MLC and member of South Group. According to ED sources, there are possibilities that the central agency may confront Kavita with Buchi Babu. Strict security arrangements were made outside his Delhi residence regarding Kavita’s second appearance. In protest against the ED inquiry, K Kavita filed a petition in the Supreme Court and appealed for an immediate hearing. The matter is to be heard on March 24.
