Bhagwat’s visit ahead of the panchayat elections in West Bengal assumes significance as the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) is leaving no stone unturned to make its presence felt in the state. The RSS is considered the ideological guide of the BJP. Incidentally, the state executive meeting of the BJP will be held from January 20 to 21. Addressing the media, Nandi clarified that the RSS has been organizing programs to mark the birth anniversary of Netaji and Shaurya for the past several years.
He said, “It is not that we are organizing Netaji’s birth anniversary for the first time. We have been doing this for the last several years. Sarsanghchalak Mohan Bhagwat ji will be in the city during that period, so obviously, he will participate in it.” According to another senior RSS leader Biplab Roy, the organization has expanded its reach in the state in the last few years. The RSS last year decided to split its two organizational zones into three zones in the state.
