Samajwadi Party (SP) chief Akhilesh Yadav said on Wednesday that the results of the SP’s alliance with the Socialists and Bahujanists may not be as expected, but it has shown that the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) alone can defeat the SP. Yadav said in his speech after the opening of the SP’s ninth provincial session: “In the 2019 Lok Sabha elections, the socialists made a historic decision. Many people of the country dreamed that Bahujan’s troops would stand together on one platform, which was once seen by Dr. Ram Manohar Lohia and Babasaheb Bhimrao Ambedkar.In the year 2019, the socialists tried to realize that dream by giving up.Socialists who wanted big wins, but the kind of people who are in power, abused everything. We were unsuccessful.” He said: “After that, the socialists again fought together against the 2022 parliamentary elections. We formed an alliance on one platform by taking all the parties that were fighting at the time to remove the BJP. It is worth noting that the Samajwadi party along with its arch-rival Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) had fought the 2019 Lok Sabha elections. SP received five seats and BSP 10 seats. However, the alliance between the two ended shortly after the election. Efforts are now underway to reunite opposition parties on the initiative of Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar for the 2024 Lok Sabha elections. Kumar had also met Akhilesh Yadav in the past. Earlier, during the convention, Naresh Uttam Patel was elected state president of the SP for the second time in a row. Announcing his unopposed election, election officer Professor Ram Gopal Yadav said the state administration will be announced by the national president. This move by the party is seen as an exercise to connect the voters of the backward class with them. The party’s national president will be elected Thursday at the party’s national convention. There is a good chance that Akhilesh Yadav will be re-elected president. Akhilesh Yadav congratulated the newly elected provincial president and said: “We will all face the challenges in the coming time. Yadav sharply criticized the ruling BJP, calling it a failure on all fronts.
