Expressing dissatisfaction with this decision, the Congress members reached in front of the seat raising slogans. Despite the security personnel stopping them, many members indulged in brawl, due to which Hem Chandra, the in-charge secretary of the assembly, had to leave his seat and get up. Even after this, the members continued to express their indignation by climbing on the secretary’s desk. Along with Chouhan, Congress member Furkan Ahmed from Piran Kaliyar of Haridwar also started creating ruckus by climbing on the table.
He tore the manual of the assembly and also threw papers in the house. During this, the Speaker was heard appealing to the members to remain calm and take their seats but when they did not listen, she suspended all the MLAs involved in the ruckus for the day and adjourned the proceedings of the House till 3 pm. Later, talking to reporters, Khanduri termed the members’ rampage in the House as wrong and said that breaking the table in the House and pushing the Secretary in-charge of the Assembly was absolutely not acceptable.
He said that if the members had any problem regarding his decision, it could have been resolved by talks, but instead of talks, there was a fierce demonstration inside the house, which is not right. Khanduri said, “Instead of pushing the secretary in-charge, climbing on his desk and tearing the manual, the MLAs could have come to me separately. Senior MLAs were also involved in this ruckus.
He said that the behavior of the Congress members yesterday also during the Governor’s address was not in accordance with the dignity of the House and today also they reiterated the same. Describing this behavior as wrong, the Speaker said that is why all the members were suspended for the day. Even after the proceedings resumed after 3 pm, the suspended MLAs did not leave the house and created ruckus, due to which the proceedings had to be adjourned four more times. After being adjourned five times, the proceedings of the House started at five in the evening with discussion on the motion of thanks on the Governor’s address, but the MLAs again came in front of the Speaker’s seat and started shouting slogans.
