Davos. Union Minister Raj Kumar Singh said on Wednesday that developed countries should talk about changing the food system by helping small farmers in developing countries. He said that this help mainly includes irrigation, fertilizers and affordable access to the market. Responding to India’s criticism about continuing to buy oil from Russia, the Minister of New and Renewable Energy said that the oil India was buying from Russia was only a small part of what Europe was buying and that it was better to refrain from preaching to others. First the West should completely stop buying Russian oil.

India is helping farmers reduce their carbon emissions with solar water pumps and green ammonia, Singh said during a discussion at the World Economic Forum (WEF) Annual Meeting 2023 here. He said that India is providing lakhs of solar water pumps to farmers and will soon produce green ammonia in sufficient quantity to stop import of ammonia based fertilizers. Asked why India is importing cheap gas from Russia despite international protests, Singh said India imports more gas from Russia in a month than Europe does in a day. India, he asked, had a conflict with its northern neighbor.
