Ashok Leyland to supply 500 buses to Sri Lanka Transport Board

The Hinduja Group flagship company said in a statement here on Wednesday that it has supplied 75 buses to the neighboring country under the contract from SLTB. This contract is part of the loan assistance given by the Export Import Bank of India under the Economic Assistance Scheme of the Government of India.

CHENNAI: Heavy commercial vehicle manufacturer Ashok Leyland has bagged a contract for the supply of 500 buses from the Sri Lanka Transport Board (SLTB). The Hinduja Group flagship company said in a statement here on Wednesday that it has supplied 75 buses to the neighboring country under the contract from SLTB. This contract is part of the loan assistance given by the Export Import Bank of India under the Economic Assistance Scheme of the Government of India.

A total of over 5,000 Ashok Leyland buses are currently with the Sri Lanka Transport Board, said Amardeep Singh, President (International Operations), Ashok Leyland. The new 32-seater buses are expected to be plying in rural areas. He told that Ashok Leyland buses and trucks are made in Sri Lanka only and they are recognized by the brand name Lanka Ashok Leyland.
